The SingleEdge Data Center
Considering outsourcing your e-business infrastructure? Finding the right outsourcing partner will give your company a competitive edge by allowing you to get to market sooner, quickly and cost effectively scale infrastructure to meet your changing business needs, and allow you to conserve capital and human resources. Yet, your mission critical data must be secure. Anything less places your business at risk.

The SingleEdge data center has been designed to equal or surpass requirements set by the most demanding enterprise level clients and is fully (N+1) redundant. No single point of failure in terms of power, cooling, or Internet access exists in our data center, which can withstand a category 4 earthquake. Additionally, our data center utilizes many exclusive features such as harmonic mitigation, which keeps your servers running cooler; more efficiently, and also substantially increases equipment life.

Clean Reliable Power
While many data centers carry 50 to 80 watts of power per square foot, our data center carries 120 watts per square foot of power for critical loads, which is soon to be the standard for running emerging technology and applications.

UPS System
The first line of defense in the data center is our UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) system, which is fully redundant (N+1) with two complete parallel UPS systems, either of which can assume 100% of the data center's critical load for over an hour. Additionally, our diesel generator (see below) comes online within 7 to 10 seconds of any power failure or in the event of any electrical storms to ensure clean reliable power.

Diesel Generator
In the event of a widespread and long lasting electrical grid failure, an on-site Cummins diesel generator with enough power to run a small city (1750 KW) can power our entire facility indefinitely. Equipped with a 3,200-gallon base fuel tank, the generator can power our entire facility for 5 days before needing to be refilled by one of three contracted refueling companies. For redundancy, the generator is equipped with dual electric starters, and is tested regularly to ensure optimal performance.

Network
Our network infrastructure is architected on a multi layer redundant design utilizing top of the line Foundry and Cisco switching and routing equipment. Our system consists of a core routing layer where we are redundantly peered with three Tier-one backbone carriers. We utilize BGP4 and accept full routes from our peers in order to provide the best routing path through the Internet as well as fully dynamic redundancies. At our access and distribution layers we utilize layer three switches, which are fully meshed through fiber gigabit interfaces. Each customer is partitioned into their own private VLAN separating your traffic from other customers.

Physical Security
SingleEdge takes it's commitment to guard your information very seriously, and utilizes many advanced security features such as: Camera Surveillance, Biometric & Card Access, 24/7 Onsite Security Guards, Phased Data Centers

Fire Detection and Suppression
SingleEdge utilizes an advanced fire detection system and multiple clean agent fire suppression systems to ensure that customer equipment and our staff are highly protected in the unlikely event of a fire.

Data Center Environment
Our data center has critical environmental needs. Proper temperatures must be kept at the set point within + / - 2 degrees F. We utilize two 30-ton Stulz Air Technology Systems precision air conditioning units, which are fully (N+1) redundant. These systems utilize a glycol loop tied into a dry cooler which is mounted on the roof. There is an additional free cooling coil that rests on top of the evaporator coil to provide free cooling when ambient conditions reach 35 degrees F or below. With the down-flow air pattern, we can direct cooling between the rows of racks throughout the room, thus eliminating hot spots through perforated floor panels.

Our humidification comes from STULZ Ultrasonic humidifiers. With this system, the water vapor is the size of 1 micron compared to steam generated systems, which are 10 microns in size. This means the water vapor is immediately entered into the air stream. The humidification is controlled with electric reheat. Four inch pleated air filters provide 65% air filtration. Our UPS room has two 10-ton ceiling units, which are fully (N+1) redundant. They too are tied into the glycol loop. These two units have steam canister humidification and electric reheat.
